Scandalous Scholars:

Is There Right Use after Wrongful Acts?

July 1–3, 2025

Online — A Research Conference hosted in partnership with the Centre for the Study of Bible and Violence

How ought we to respond to legacies of abuse, injustice, and moral failure by theologians, scholars, and institutions? This conference will explore the power differentials and dynamics, as well as systemic and structural problems, often at work in academia. And it will consider head-on the ethics of the ongoing use and citation of research from figures tainted by the perpetration of harm and scandalous wrongs. Can the work of such scholars ever by used again?
